The Milford Police Department is structured into divisions. Operations Division oversees the basic operation of the police department, including the Patrol Division, the Police Fleet, Field Training Officers, and Specialized Units to include the Motorcycle Unit, Bicycle Unit, K-9 and OHRV Unit. The Support Division oversees the Legal Division, Detective’s Division, School Resource Program, Juvenile Services Program, School Crossing Guards, Training, Hiring Process, and Community Relations Programs.
Chief of Police Michael Viola
Michael Viola Comes from a family of law enforcement officers. He began his career in 1989 as a patrol officer with the City of Fort Myers, FL Police Department, working his way through the ranks of Detective (undercover and general crimes), Sergeant, Lieutenant and Captain over a period of 23 years.
The Milford Police Department K-9 Unit is assigned to the Operations Division and is under the supervision of Sergeant Kevin Furlong.
The Milford K-9 Unit was established to provide highly trained teams of both dogs and handlers to assist officers in various aspects of law enforcement.
The Milford Police Department reintroduced the mountain bike unit in the summer of 2009. There are three officers and a Sergeant assigned to the unit. Since the start of the unit it has been well received by the citizens of Milford . You will see Officers riding in the downtown area as well as residential neighborhoods, local parks, apartment complexes and shopping plazas. Deployment of the bike unit will vary depending on the availability of man power.
