Administration

 Chief of Police
Fredrick G. Douglas

I have been in law enforcement for thirty five years and have been the Chief of Police in Milford, New Hampshire for the past ten years. I entered into the Law Enforcement profession as a Part-Time Officer in 1975. In 1979, I became a Full-Time Patrol Officer with the Milford New Hampshire Police Department and have remained with this agency to date.

During my career with Milford Police, I have advanced from Patrol Officer through the ranks, serving a total of thirty one years. I was appointed to the position of Acting Chief of Police in April 1999 by the Board of Selectmen. In January 2000 I was appointed to the position of Full-Time Chief of Police.

As the Chief of Police I perform highly responsible administrative work in planning, organizing and directing the actions of the Milford Police Department. In doing so I provide leadership, direction of all employees while maintaining appropriate discipline articulating the vision and values of the Milford Police Department. Along with the heads of other town departments I am considered a member of the Town's management team.  Under the general direction of the Town Administrator, the Chief of Police operates with considerable independence and personal judgment with work reviewed by conferences, reports, departmental performance and employee evaluations. I am responsible for the overall efficiency of this organization, that being; motivating subordinates to strive to obtain the goals and objectives, career development for personnel, strategic planning for the future, and budgets associated with the organization.

I am married to my wife Lynda and have one son. When not working I spend time with my family and enjoy hunting and fishing.
