Milford 4th Saturday Hike – January 27, 2018 9:00 to 11:00 Mayflower Hill Town Forest – Patch Hill

January 27th, the Milford Conservation Commission’s 4th Saturday hike will feature a hike of Mayflower Hill Town Forest featuring Patch Hill and into Amherst.  Park along Chase Lane.  The woods trail may still have icy patches so please prepare with a hiking pole and grippy footware.  Dogs on leashes are welcome.
Mayflower Hill is an easy, pleasant walk, close to downtown,  In early 2010 a new trail, leaving Mayflower Hill, heading north up Patch Hill and into Amherst, was completed.  Mayflower Town Forest is a small gem just north of the Milford Oval.  It includes many natural features of interest, great views, and evidence of historic winter quarrying. 
The Patch Hill trail will provide views of a beautiful babbling brook, vernal pools, as well as some historic granite quarrying sites and granite grout piles.
The hike begins at 9:00am at the Chase Lane trail entrance.  Please park carefully along the road. From the downtown Oval in Milford, continue on Rt 13 N. Turn right at Myrtle Street, turn left at Adams Street, Turn right at Shady Lane, Turn left  at Faulkner Ave, Turn left at Chase Lane.
