Joint Loss Management Committee
Joint Loss Management Committee (JLMC) - aka Safety Committee
The purpose of the JLMC is too established jointly between management and employees in an effort to prevent accidents and to reduce the frequency and severity of accidents which do occur. Although profit is not a purpose of the Town of Milford's operation, the same efficiency is desired to ensure full utilization of every tax dollar available. In addition, every employee has the right to a workplace free from occupational and health hazards.
Background: When consistently incorporated with other management efforts, loss prevention techniques have a profound effect on the reduction of personnel injuries, property damage and work interruptions. It is an established fact that a well-trained, well-disciplined and well-supervised individual in a safe and healthful environment is less likely to have an accident. The objectives of this program are focused upon this accomplishment. A low experience of losses in any organization is indicative of quality supervision at all levels and employee recognition and practice of good safety habits during operations and overrules the misconception that accidents are inevitable where hazardous operations are accomplished
The loss control objectives used by the JLMC and Loss Prevent Manual (LPM policy are required and are intended to be used in conjunction with the State of New Hampshire Public Employee Safety Act, RSA 277, as prescribed by the Commissioner of Labor. |
