Personnel
The Milford Fire Department is a combination department, meaning that there are full-time personnel that work regular shifts and personnel who are on-call and respond as-needed. All personnel work together as a team to accomplish our mission. All personnel are organized into four groups for accountability and reporting through a chain of command.
Call Personnel
Call firefighters are notified of emergencies via radio, pager, or text messaging and will respond any time of day or night to mitigate the emergency. They receive the same training and equipment as the full-time staff and are an essential component of our service to the community. Many of our call members are firefighters or EMS providers that also work in other communities, but others work in private business and industry and serve their community with pride whenever they are able. Call firefighters are supervised by Lieutenants, who report to the Captain.
Full-Time Personnel
Milford Fire Department is staffed with full-time response personnel from 7:00am to 7:00pm, seven days a week, including holidays. Our full-time personnel consist of two Lieutenants and four Firefighters that are organized into two groups of 3. Each group works 4 days on, 4 days off, on a rotating schedule of 12-hour shifts. The Lieutenants are responsible for supervising the shift, and report to the full-time Deputy Chief.
