Community Memorial Surveys
2018 - 2019 VIETNAM MEMORIAL COMMUNITY SURVEY
In 2018, the Committee conducted two surveys beginning on April 30, 2018 and a supplemental survey on July 16, 2018. A third survey was conducted in July 2019 after the Committee recommended that the Vietnam Memorial be located at 2 Union Street (Town owned property) directly behind the WWII Memorial. The site was chosen by Committee for consideration based on the valuable input and involvement of the Town’s veteran community and residents and evaluation of alternative sites.
The purpose of the surveys throughout this process was to generate and encourage input and recommendations from the general public involving the layout and design of Vietnam and Freedom Memorials. Respondents were asked to evaluate several alternative concepts/themes and types of materials. The results of the surveys yielded a great deal of information and continue to assist the Committee develop the evolving designs and layout.
