Marriage Licenses

  • Marriage Licenses are done by appointment only.
  • A couple getting married in the State of New Hampshire may apply for their marriage license in any Town Clerk's office in the state. They must provide proof of identity and age (the bride and groom must be at least 18 years of age.) A state driver's license is sufficient in most cases. If either of the contracting parties has been previously married, that person must provide a certified copy of a divorce/annulment decree, the death certificate of a deceased spouse or a civil union dissolution.
  • The license is valid for 90 days from the date of issue. There is no waiting period and a blood test is not required. The fee for the license is $50.00
  • Both applicants must appear together and fill out an application worksheet upon arrival. After the marriage occurs, the officiant completes the license and returns it to the Town or City of application, after which they may obtain a certified copy of the marriage certificate.
  • The fee for the certificate is $15.00 for the first copy and $10.00 for any additional copies purchased at the same time.
